BURST OUT of YOUR Tights

One of the most striking effects that a netted lens can create is starbursting. When a naked light source is visible in your frame, different degrees of stretch (and darkness) on your tights will produce halos around your light, including some delightful looking starbursts.

In the bottom image, you can see the shot as it was taken without any netting over the lens. In the top photo, we’ve netted the lens with a pale pair of Fogal tights; the pale material diffuses the light and produces a strong starburst. Using a dark pair of tights controls the light more, as the material absorbs the light so doesn’t diffuse quite as much.
