Sharing your shots
Discover different ways to export and share your processed pictures
After using Digital Photo Professional 4’s suite of tools to boost your photographs’ saturation, balance their colours and improve composition, you may want to share your processed pictures.
For the best results you will have shot and edited in Raw, but to share your photos electronically (via email, for example) you will need to export them as smaller, lighter JPEG files. Digital Photo Professional 4 enables you to batch-convert a group of edited Raw files as shareable JPEGS, as we’ll demonstrate in our three-step walkthrough. You can post JPEG format files to online galleries or share them via social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Alternatively, you might want to share your images as hard copy prints. This can lead to disappointing results. Despite the accurate colours that you can see on your PC’S display, you may end with a print that suffers from drab colours that have shifted in hue. This discrepancy between screen and print colour is caused by a variety of factors.
Your computer’s screen produces millions of colours by mixing red, green and blue (RGB) together, while many desktop printers combine cyan, magenta, black and yellow (CMYK) inks to create a much narrower range of colours. Your PC’S screen is illuminated, creating more vibrant looking colours. A paper print can look rather drab in comparison as the image is produced by reflected light. We’ll look at how to set up Digital Photo Profession 4 to use a screen- or printcompatible colour space that suits your photos’ destination.
