01 Canon Eos-1d X Mark ii

i upgraded to the 1D X Mark II last year. I absolutely love this body. I researched into what I wanted and I’ve not looked back. It ticks all my boxes: it’s great in the low light of my natural studio and I have no concerns of using high ISO. The speed is also awesome for those all-important action shots, and there are no worries about the great British weather, or when I am up to my waist in water!

Without a doubt my most favourite lens, although when attached to the 1D X it is a bit weighty, but beautifully balanced (I no longer need the gym membership). On location I use the Spider Holster for carrying, leaving my hands free to guide owners posing with their horses. With this zoom lens it means I can keep a good distance, but still get up nice and close.

another one of my favourites. I mainly use this lens for dog portraiture in my studio, especially in the low light winter months. It’s a good sturdy combination on the 1D X, as it gives me the ability to hold in one hand, while allowing me to wave around an object to gain attention from the dog or cat if needed. I always take this out on evening family occasions, as I prefer not to use flash.

this lens is a great all-rounder. If I had to choose only one lens to take on a shoot without knowing much about the location, it would be this one. I love that this lens offers an f/2.8 aperture, giving me the option to use in a low light situation (such as woodlands and forests). I also use this lens in the studio if I have a pack of dogs and can’t get back far enough with the 50mm.

this kit lens came with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II and should not be underestimated. I have won awards using this lens attached to my old faithful 5D Mark II, which is still always in my bag and used as a backup camera. This lens always comes on every holiday or weekend away with me.

this wide-angle zoom lens was a gift. I use it purely for holidays, photographing seascapes and landscapes. I would, however, like to take it out on a dog shoot and have some fun using the wide angle. I’m sure that I’m missing a trick or two by saving it just for holidays!
