Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex 03 An ultra compact and affordable tele lens £250/$249 https://tokinalens.com
WHILE CONVENTIONAL telephoto lenses use a ‘refracting’ principle – a series of lenses which bend the light to form the image on the sensor - this Tokina uses a radically different ‘mirror’ lens design. A parabolic mirror at the back of the lens focuses the image onto a mirror mounted centrally at the front, which then bounces the light back down the lens to the camera sensor. The Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF uses a fixed f/8 aperture and requires an adaptor to convert its obscure T2 mount to EF or RF mounts.

Canon RF 14-35mm F4L IS USM 06 Meet Canon’s widest-ever RF zoom lens £1,750/$1,688 www.canon.co.uk
CANON has introduced the third entry in its ‘trinity’ of f/4 compact zoom lenses for EOS R-series cameras. Joining the existing RF 24-105mm F4L and RF 70-200mm F4L, the new 14-35mm goes 1mm wider than its f/2.8 RF stablemate, and at just 540g, it’s a whole 300g lighter. The optical stack incorporates three aspherical and three UD elements (one of which is both UD and aspherical) to generate supreme image sharpness, while Canon’s SWC (Sub Wavelength structure Coating) and ASC (Air Sphere Coating) prevent flare and ghosting. The optical image stabilizer is rated at an impressive 5.5-stops, plus it can be boosted to 7-stops when used with an Ibis-equipped R-series body.
