The main vehicle access point into Red Dog Gorge has been blocked off for safety reasons given its proximity to a Rio Tinto rail line, but many readers were disappointed to see access to another popular Pilbara landmark reduced.

Good old mining companies spoiling everything for locals.
About time. The amount of dangerous close calls they had, trying to avoid iron ore trains, was frightening. They even climbed through stationary trains that were stopped waiting for a signal. I’m amazed no one was killed or injured.
Automatic trains will kill people. No human onboard to warn other humans of the train approaching.
Maybe the Shire and Rio should do a joint venture and build a walk bridge or underpass for vehicles.
Wouldn’t this be a viable solution?
