Singh’s six help Lions win thriller

Round nine of the West Pil­bara Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion 40-over com­pe­ti­tion started with Bayn­ton Lions host­ing the Pegs Creek Crabs at the Kar­ratha Leisure­plex.

The Crabs won the toss and got off to a flyer with the help of Lach­lan Seabrook, who scored a bril­liant cen­tury in 45 balls and fin­ished with a score of 132.

Lions pace­man Shamsher Singh claimed a hat-trick and six wick­ets in to­tal in his eight-over spell as the Crabs at a score of 200 in 28 overs.

In re­sponse, the Lions started their chase steadily and Lo­k­endra Ranawat (25) and Amol Virkar (42) put to­gether an open­ing stand of 68. Aziz Saghar (46), Muham­mad Khan (28) and Jig­nesh Pa­tel (190 helped Lions get home with one over to spare.

The sec­ond game was played in Dampier. Af­ter win­ning the toss, Rec Club chose to bat first and fin­ished on 167. In re­sponse, the Dampier Tav­ern­ers chased the score down with help of Wayne Ritzema, who com­pleted a bril­liant 100.

The Kar­ratha Kats for­feited the third game against Wick­ham.
