Youth charged in ma­chete at­tack

A TEENAGE boy has been charged over an al­leged ma­chete at­tack in Green­fields on Sun­day that left one woman with a deep cut on her face and an­other in hospi­tal.

It will be al­leged about 4pm three males en­tered a deli on Mur­doch Drive and two of them were armed with weapons, in­clud­ing a ma­chete.

Po­lice said one of the males struck a woman, aged in her 50s, on the shoul­der with the blunt part of a weapon.

He then al­legedly struck a woman aged in her 40s in the face with the sharp end of a weapon.

Po­lice said the women man­aged to run out the back of the store, while the males stole cig­a­rettes from be­hind the counter.

The males left the scene on foot, head­ing north to­wards Bor­tolo Park.

The woman with the cut on her face was taken to Fiona Stan­ley Hospi­tal for treat­ment, while the other woman was taken to Peel Health Cam­pus.

A 15-year-old male was found hid­ing in bushes close by and taken into cus­tody by po­lice.

He has been charged with ag­gra­vated armed rob­bery and as­sault oc­ca­sion­ing bod­ily harm.

He was due to ap­pear in the Perth Chil­dren’s Court on Mon­day, when the two males were still on the loose.
