MANDURAH make-up artist Jennifer Ellis has been named the winner in three categories of the 2018 International Beauty Industry Awards.

Ms Ellis was chosen from hundreds of entrants from 15 different countries.

She will receive three hand-crafted statuettes designed by the same people who make the Golden Globes, Emmys, MTV and People’s Choice Awards.

Ms Ellis said she was hesitant to enter, knowing the competition was going to be really tough.

“But my life motto is if you can’t get over your fear, then do it scared,’’ she said. “And I’m so glad I did. “What an honour to be recognised for my work.’’

She said the competition was not a popularity contest but a panel of industry experts judging each artist’s work.

Ms Ellis was selected for her creative make-up skills, which she attributed to her understanding of how to use science and mathematics to apply make-up.

“When you understand the science of make-up, you can noticeably enhance someone’s features,’’ she said.

“After studying and working on faces for years, I can genuinely say that every person has features that are beautiful.

“I just make it more obvious for them to see it for themselves.”

Ms Ellis has spent years honing her craft. She has worked on fashion runway events, landed publication in beauty and fashion magazines and worked on stage productions.
