IT comes as no surprise that Mary Kartesz Wardroper, of Meadow Springs, has taken the honours for the second year running in the best Christmas lights in Perth.
Her display won the People’s Choice Award after thousands of people voted in the Synergy Christmas Lights Trail.
Mrs Kartesz-Wardroper’s annual spectacular has gained a strong following around Perth and continues to draw busloads of visitors from across the Perth suburbs.
The display includes almost 500 Christmas trees, including a Barbie tree, dog tree and dolphin tree, as well as sentimental handmade pieces dating back 50 years. This year it features new trees as well as a winter scene inside and a huge sleigh outside.
Each year she decorates her entire Meadow Springs home – even the toilet.
The planning is yearlong, with decorations going up as early as August. Mrs Kartesz-Wardroper loves opening up the house and giving a little bit of pleasure to people.
Visitors come from far and wide to view her home and garden at night, from the first weekend in December until January 8, and it’s not just for families. Other visitors include the elderly and tourists who stop for a look at the displays.
Last year Mrs Kartesz-Wardroper and her husband raised $11,500 for K9 Rescue Group.
Mary Kartesz Wardroper has won the People’s Choice Award for the second consecutive year in the Synergy Christmas Lights Trail competition.
