Swoop on smug­gling

A MAN­DURAH woman and eight oth­ers have been charged with try­ing to smug­gle drugs into a max­i­mum se­cu­rity jail.

Po­lice claim heroin, meth, cannabis and DMT were dis­cov­ered in the cars of vis­i­tors head­ing to see in­mates at Ca­sua­r­ina Prison.

The WA Po­lice Or­gan­ised Crime Squad, prison of­fi­cers, Cor­rec­tive Ser­vices’ Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Group and the Drug De­tec­tion Unit took part in the co-or­di­nated search as part of Oper­a­tion Ham­mer­man.

“The oper­a­tion tar­geted mem­bers of the pub­lic at­tend­ing and traf­fick­ing unau­tho­rised ar­ti­cles, in­clud­ing pro­hib­ited drugs, into the prison,” a WA Po­lice spokes­woman said.

“A to­tal of 43 ve­hi­cles en­ter­ing prison grounds were searched and quan­ti­ties of cannabis, metham­phetamine, DMT and heroin were seized, along with drug para­pher­na­lia.”

An 18-year-old woman from Bal­divis, a man (27) from Bal­divis, a woman (37) from Golden Bay, a woman (47) from Den­mark, a woman (28) from Hil­larys, a woman (27) from Yanchep, a woman (19) from Cooloongup, a woman (27) from Man­durah and a 26-year-old man from Mid­land were charged.
