Swoop on smuggling
A MANDURAH woman and eight others have been charged with trying to smuggle drugs into a maximum security jail.
Police claim heroin, meth, cannabis and DMT were discovered in the cars of visitors heading to see inmates at Casuarina Prison.
The WA Police Organised Crime Squad, prison officers, Corrective Services’ Special Operations Group and the Drug Detection Unit took part in the co-ordinated search as part of Operation Hammerman.
“The operation targeted members of the public attending and trafficking unauthorised articles, including prohibited drugs, into the prison,” a WA Police spokeswoman said.
“A total of 43 vehicles entering prison grounds were searched and quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, DMT and heroin were seized, along with drug paraphernalia.”
An 18-year-old woman from Baldivis, a man (27) from Baldivis, a woman (37) from Golden Bay, a woman (47) from Denmark, a woman (28) from Hillarys, a woman (27) from Yanchep, a woman (19) from Cooloongup, a woman (27) from Mandurah and a 26-year-old man from Midland were charged.
