REVUE 31 June 12, 2019 www.communitynews.com.au Bodies used in fashion SOUTH Metropolitan Tafe fashion students will be showcasing their emerging designs at the WA Maritime Museum in Fremantle as part of the Body Language: A Photographic and Fashion Exhibition. Inspired by the Kylie On Stage Exhibition at the museum, Body Language will display the students’ talents through a range of creative fashion and floral design, illustration and curation. South Metropolitan Tafe creative industries portfolio manager Andrea Quintal said the project had been a student-driven initiative. “It’s been fantastic to see the students come together to plan the exhibit concept, organise the logistics and use graphic design and installation techniques to present the concept to an audience,” she said. The Body Language theme encouraged the student designers and illustrators to explore meaning and communication in human movement and Deb Ridley took inspiration from the Rainbow Serpent. Picture: Chanel Concei Photography form. Ms Quintal said students rose to the design challenge by exploring themes such as fingerprints, deportment and posture, the physical expression of emotions and primal human reflexes, such as goosebumps and butterflies. Mandurah resident and South Metropolitan Tafe Diploma of Applied Fashion and Design student Deb Ridley will have her photograph on display at the exhibition. She said she took inspiration from the Rainbow Serpent story and the land, rivers and mountains that were formed as the Rainbow Serpent moved throughout the land. The exhibition is open to June 30 and entry is free. Rainbow Darkness YOUR LOCAL FENCING SPECIALISTS F❞ or that secure ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AN feeling Experienced Dentist ❞ YOU CAN TRUST?
