Tackling a trophy trio with the Dead Rising Triple Pack
Three different tales of zombie infested malls and casinos play out in this trilogy, so either grab Frank West’s camera or slip into Chuck Greene’s motocross jacket and get cracking on investigating those mysterious case files.
In Dead Rising, you should spend your first playthrough racking up 53,594 kills to become a Zombie Genocider. The best method is to get outside, find a vehicle then head into the maintenance tunnel and squish crowds of undead. Hit the target then trigger one of the endings, and the powerful Real Mega Buster gun will be available to make subsequent runs easy.
One potential stumbling block is Infinity Mode, where you need to stay alive for a whole week to earn 7 Day Survivor. This equates to 14 hours real time, during which your health depletes, food doesn’t respawn… and you can’t save at any point, though at least you can take a break using rest mode! Reach Level Max by hitting Lv. 50 before attempting this for your best chance of survival.
Dead Rising 2 raises the stakes higher, challenging you to slay 72,000 shufflers to be crowned Zombie Genocide Master. To succeed, you want to earn $2m in a playthrough and purchase the SUV keys, then restart. Drive constant laps of the Strip, saving and reloading when needed to respawn your vehicle and more zombies, until you reach the goal.
Find yourself a reliable partner, as this game is Better With a Friend when you solve all case files in co-op mode. There’s also a large volume of collectibles to locate, so track down a concise guide to prevent endless backtracking. Don’t forget to hit up the online Terror Is Reality mode, where you must win all nine events to become TK’s Favorite.
This just leaves Off The Record, which unbelievably takes things even further by demanding you slay 100,000 zombies to reach Six Digits?!?. However, OTR brings in a Sandbox mode which doesn’t have a time limit, turning this into just a long grind. Either rely on the SUV again, or strap a chainsaw to your motorbike and Slicecycle through the hordes roaming the Strip. Sandbox mode also features single-player and co-op challenges, and you’ll need to obtain all 30 gold medals in each to achieve Challenge Domination and get Even More Help From My Friends.
Food and drink is required as always to replenish your HP, but to earn the Purewal Memorial Cup you must not consume meat, dairy, or alcohol until the military arrives. Make sure you stick to a strict fruit, juice and snacks diet, which will no doubt keep you regular until the silverware appears.
