LAST MONTH ON PS PLUS

- @KoeniginKatze

Whether you were after a battle of wits or the clashing of fists, July’s PS Plus lineup had something for everyone hiding inside from the tyranny of the sun. But even with its fair share of imperilled scooby gangs and evil masterminds, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Sony fans. These summer nights bring violent delights in the form of Quantic Dreams. July’s headline game was murder mystery Heavy Rain. Between four protagonists, each of whom could exit the story in gruesome ways, we needed to uncover the identity of the sadistic Origami Killer and maybe even stop him before he struck again. Joining the fight on PS4 was Absolver. Travelling through an open world, we searched for opponents who’d teach us new moves upon defeat, building our own fighting style this way.

On PS4 and PS3, there was spooky action platformer Extreme Exorcism. Ghosts were bad enough, but at the end of each stage we were confronted by a spirit that then mimicked each of our moves from the stage before.

Giant robot punch-ups came to both PS4 and PS Vita in Space Overlords. We could destroy cities alone or throw down with friends, editing and sharing planets for other players to rampage through as well. It wasn’t all mindless destruction on Vita last month, though. A bit more mentally stimulating, Zero

Escape: Zero Time Dilemma had plenty on offer to tickle our frontal lobes. Between escape-the-room-style puzzles, and moral questions, failure could easily mean death. Could we get all nine characters out alive? Closing out the month on PS3 was

Rayman 3 HD. A HD remaster of the original PS2 3D platformer, it didn’t take itself too seriously but was well worth the revisit.
