Prey – Mooncrash
Prey-pare to die, die, and die again in this roguelike
After the events of Prey, TranStar’s secret moon base ceased all outward communications. As Peter, a hacker hired under a very stringent contract by rival corporation KASMA, you must discover what happened by intercepting TranStar communications from a sneaky spy satellite. That is, if you ever want to see your family again.
In order to get to the bottom of the moon base’s mystery, you must enter a simulation of its last days. But this simulation is a roguelike; while the layout of the base stays the same, hazards and loot do not. If you die, everything bar the base resets. Ammo won’t carry between runs but ability unlocks and playable characters do.
Your eventual goal is to get the five remaining crew off of the base in a single run. Each has an escape route unique to them, as well as special abilities. You can also use the sim points you gain during a run to kit out your starting loadout for next time.
Mooncrash is out now but isn’t the only update Bethesda will offer. Alongside this paid DLC is a free update for the base game that offers a story mode (for anyone who wants to experience the narrative without fighting off Mimics), nails-hard survival mode, and a New Game+ mode. This will be joined by a multiplayer update some time later in the year.
EACH CREW MEMBER HAS AN ESCAPE ROUTE UNIQUE TO THEM, AS WELL AS THEIR OWN SPECIAL ABILITIES.
