MEGA MAN 11

The Blue Bomber returns

-

Announced in December last year, we finally know more about the next instalment in Mega Man’s 30 year history, nearly a decade after his last outing. It’s a more modern Mega Man take, pixel art replaced by 3D models and a 2.5D perspective, as well as the all-new Double Gear system.

Series villain Dr Wily can’t leave well enough alone, as your ally Dr Light knows only too well. The pair unearth some long-forgotten research from their time at Robot University, and each kit out their own respective bots with the prototype. The Double Gear system grants Mega Man a number of new powers, though it’s prone to overheating and can be especially taxing on the little blue bot. But as Dr Wily’s Robot Masters also have it, it’s absolutely vital to your fight against them.

The Double Gear comes in especially handy in boss fights. The Speed Gear slows time, enabling deft platform and projectile traversal alike, while the Power Gear charges your Mega Buster for an added edge to your attacks. If you find yourself at critical health, you can engage both gears to access a hidden ability. And that’s saying nothing of the powers you’ll pick up after defeating each Robot Master. Crushing blocks out of thin air! Bolts of electricity! It’s all shaping up to be a lot of silly fun and we can’t wait to gear up later this year.

“THE DOUBLE GEAR SYSTEM GRANTS NEW POWERS, THOUGH CAN BE TAXING.”
