Picking 20 games to examplify a console that had almost eight thousand releases was always going to divide fans. The games installed on PlayStation Classic will be: Battle Arena Toshinden, Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, Final Fantasy VII, Grand Theft Auto, Intelligent Qube, Jumping Flash, Metal Gear Solid, Mr Driller, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Rayman, Resident Evil Director’s Cut, Revelations: Persona, Ridge Racer Type 4, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Syphon Filter, Tekken 3, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Twisted Metal, and Wild Arms. So, let the debate begin…
OPM reader Tom Knowles says: “This is such a good lineup. They were never going to fit everyone’s favourite game on here but I’m way more interested in getting one now.”

CUT CLASSICS?
It’s not a lineup that will make every PlayStation fan happy. The need to run the fine line between classics and rarities has meant some big names are absent while games few played back in the day hold pride of place – Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six is an oddity, and Revelations: Persona is only known via its better PSP port.
For many PS1 fans it’s the omission of a certain green platform hero that has caused a stir – and we’re not talking about Gex.
“There are no words to describe my disappointment in the lack of Croc!” Nicole Hall says.
“I agree, where’s my boy, Croc?” asks Ben Wesley.
Platform fans do get Rayman, one of PS1’s biggest selling titles, and one of its toughest challenges.
Some gems on the list recall the PS1’s Japanese appeal, such as Mr Driller. This classic has you moving down through screens of blocks while maintaining your air supply and avoiding being flattened.
Metal Gear Solid makes the list, which proved a decider for many readers, though Patrick Beauchamp queries how the stealth classic will perform on the original controllers included with PlayStation Classic:

The addition of Syphon Filter impresses. Sony Bend Studio’s action-stealth shooter has its fans. Reader Matt Woods explains: “All you need to know is you get a taser gun that you can use on baddies until they burst into flames!”
Though Resident Evil Director’s Cut and Ridge Racer Type 4 make the final list, Jon Fellingham is “Disappointed that WipEout didn’t make the cut.”
