BORDERLANDS 2 VR

Step inside Pandora’s skybox

-

You might be thinking that the irreverent, hectic first-person shootand-loot-’em-up Borderlands 2 might be a bit much for PS VR. To a point, you’re probably right – this Borderlands 2 VR version does include the game’s full campaign. But Gearbox producer Brian Burleson promises it won’t feel that way: “We didn’t just cram Borderlands into a headset and call it a day – we did copious research into how VR plays best to update the experience”.

Since porting the game to PS4 as part of The Handsome Collection (alongside Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel), the team has been playing around with options for how best to bring the game to PS VR. Co-op connoisseurs may be a little disappointed as this version of the game is single-player only, and will feature only the original four Vault Hunters, without any of the DLC extras. It’s a shame as the Borderlands games are uniquely fun co-op jaunts.

Skill trees have been tweaked to reflect this singleplayer only approach, as well as some new options mechanically. BAMF Time (BadAss Mega Fun Time) allows you to slow down time to think tactically and take on more at once, and modifications to the mode are now in the skill tree. Exploring the world of Pandora completely immersed in PS VR feels like a perfect fit of game and tech.
