VIRAL INFECTION
Some of the worst sick days you’ll ever have…
TYRANT VIRUS
You can’t go wrong with the classic zombie. Except they are very wrong. Umbrella Corporation’s T-virus strains were intended to create regenerative super-soldiers, but ended up making the undead so they pivoted to bioterrorism. Oops.
GOLGOTHA VIRUS
Unfortunately, like the T one, this didn’t really work, making those infected mutate even further and more savagely – and also grow extra eyes. Its creator, Birkin, mutated into the hulking G mutant you encounter throughout Resident Evil 2.
LAS PLAGAS
After previous failures, Umbrella turned its attention to these parasites to help create mindless, superpowered slaves. Originally used by the Los Illuminados cult, Umbrella successfully gained control of the parasite for nefarious ends.
CHRYSALID VIRUS
A mixture of the Umbrella viruses that preceded it, this one led to zombies that retained more of their intelligence – the J’avo and Complete Mutations. Because of this, they could plan, co-ordinate and use weapons. Tricky stuff.
E-TYPE
What if instead of viruses being bioweapons, you made people into bioweapons? So the E-Types were born – little girls who could control the minds of those around them and spew infectious black mould. Resident Evil VII’s Eveline is one of these.
