STEINS;GATE ELITE

The past of the Future Gadget Lab

-

Lab members old and new are welcomed back to the future gadget laboratory in this reboot-of-sorts of the classic visual novel Steins;Gate.

You might be familiar with the story, but this version offers a set of full animations previously included in the anime, along with never-before-seen sequences which bring already quirky and colourful characters more vividly to life than ever. It pushes the concept of a visual novel away from the usual static images, resulting in a blend of text story and interactive anime that’s like nothing else in the genre.

If you’re unfamiliar with Steins;Gate, the game starts close to a ‘slice-of-life’ tale, as the narrative follows Okarin and the other members of the Future Gadget Laboratory. It turns into a time travel adventure when they accidentally make a time machine out of a microwave. Thanks to the new-style animation, full voice acting, and a handy builtin tip guide1 (for all that complex sciency jargon that’s thrown at you), it’s easier than ever to enjoy the amazing story and all of its highs and lows.

The game has a multitude of endings, and which one you’ll see depends on the choices you make when you respond to text messages from other characters. 2 Each ending is radically different, and there are even two extra ones when you’ve finished the main game which have never been available before in the UK. Fans will love the extra TLC in for this enhanced version of the very static original, and newcomers will experience a visual novel like never before – an anime that is very much yours, and an unforgettable time travel thriller to boot.
