PREDATOR: HUNTING GROUNDS

Play as a female Predator in Hunting Grounds

A SMART DISC-BLADE CAN KILL MULTIPLE ENEMIES AT A DISTANCE.

While female Predators (or Yautja, to get nerdy) exist in the series’ lore, they’ve never really been focussed on in any depth. This is changing in Predator: Hunting Grounds, where you can play as one who’s every bit as fearsome as her male counterpart. The choice is simply a preference, as both have access to the same hunting tools.

The game, an asymmetrical multiplayer shooter, pits one Predator against a four-player fireteam, trying to pick them off one by one. But that doesn’t mean that the Predator is ‘one size fits all’. Your loadout for hunting humans can change depending on the type of Predator you choose to play as: the Hunter is balanced in both speed and strength, the Scout is quicker and better at tracking prey, and the Berzerker can both deal and take a large amount of damage at the cost of mobility.

We’ve already gone hands-on with a Predator armed with wrist blades and a plasmacaster – and had terrific fun doing so – but their advanced alien tech doesn’t stop there. You can adjust your loadout to include a combistick (a telescopic spear that can be used at both short and long-range), a smart disc-blade that you can throw to kill multiple enemies at a distance, or the Yautja bow, which deals massive damage and pins its kills to nearby walls or objects.

While the fireteam have their own tricks to get one over on the Predator, such as muddying up to reduce the effectiveness of heat tracking, they don’t have as many cool tools. We can’t wait to test our favourites on… willing prey.

Pick your side when Predator: Hunting Grounds decloaks on 24 April.
