MEET THE S.T.A.R.S. OF THE GAME
The original game’s returning cast have never looked better
NEMESIS
Umbrella’s infamous super-soldier is the latest strain of the Tyrant mutations and was created to track down and kill the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members from the original Resident Evil game – Jill Valentine among them. This advanced creature can handle weapons and it alters form through the game, ensuring every new confrontation is different from the last.
NIKOLAI ZINOVIEV
Commander of the UBSC Delta Platoon, Nikolai has secret instructions to gather data on how Nemesis is performing in its hunt for Jill and other S.T.A.R.S. agents. As producer Peter Fabiano has revealed the multiple endings have been removed we’d guess Nikolai’s plot twists will be handled differently in this remake.
JILL VALENTINE
After the events of the first Resident Evil Jill transfers to the RCPD to investigate dodgy corporation Umbrella and try to convince people of the imminent threat. After being rebuffed, Jill quits the force just as the T-virus is released. For the remake her original outfit has been redesigned to be more practical, befitting one of the series’ best characters.
BRAD VICKERS
The S.T.A.R.S. helicopter pilot is caught in the chaos of Raccoon City and is convinced a creature is hunting him down. Not unjustly, as it turns out. His appearance in the remade Resident Evil 3 feels more horrifying as his fear of something nasty in the city’s alleyways foreshadows the violence that’s to come. Brad puts his neck on the line for his team.
TYRELL PATRICK
In the original game Patrick is a former member of the French Foreign Legion who joins Unit A of the UBSC to avoid a life sentence after being court-martialed for trafficking illegal weapons. He has his suspicions about Nikolai Zinoviev and we glimpse him lurking in the shadows; does he have something to confide to Jill?
CARLOS OLIVEIRA
Having met Jill for the first time as the undead swarm and the city burns, Carlos asks her out on a date. “All the foxy ladies love my accent,” says the South American merc. Late in the original game we get to shoot the undead as Carlos, and this looks likely to be expanded upon in the remake. Carlos’ new design is less clean-cut than the 1999 character.
MIKHAIL VIKTOR
We meet this former USSR lieutenant in a broken cable car as the UBSC (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service) Delta Platoon, sent to Raccoon City to protect any survivors, have the same idea as Jill: to get the tram running and escape from the zombie-beset city. Injured and disillusioned with the events happening all around him, Mikhail still sides with Jill.
MURPHY SEEKER
“Get off me, I’m not one of the infected,” protests Seeker in the Resident Evil 3 remake trailer. In the original game Seeker is injured and relies on Jill Valentine for support before going full Aliens Pvt Hudson on a horde of zombies that breach the cable car Jill and the UBSC troops are taking refuge in – a classic scene.
