Don’t sleep on the non-Sony games to play at launch

Ubisoft is offering a free PS5 upgrade to PS4 digital players on launch day. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, set in Dark-Age Norway and England, closes the current loose trilogy of games in this time-hopping series. Expect ray tracing, haptic feedback, and fast loading as base improvements over the PS4 version.

WATCH DOGS: LEGION

Watch Dogs: Legion is out on PS4 this month, but the PS5 update is free to digital downloaders. Ubisoft’s London-set revolution uses ray tracing to give its dystopia a new dimension, and as we’re able to recruit any character, we expect PS5’s AMD CPU to be pushing around some hot maths. If ‘hot maths’ isn’t your thing, the presence of Aiden Pearce and Stormzy may entice you.

DIRT 5

Is targeting 120fps on PS5, and making use of ray tracing and the console’s SSD enough? Heck no. The Dirt 5 PS5 edition, a free upgrade to PS4 digital buyers, includes all manner of next-gen tech, including using the DualSense controller’s haptics and adaptive triggers to enable you to feel the gravel slipping under your tyres. Bloober Team’s cult cyberpunk horror adventure is getting a complete PS5 remake. DualSense support and 3D audio are a given but it’s the use of ray tracing that will bring this raindrizzled neon world to life. Its reflective streets and seedy bars come alive on PS5. Behind the enhancements lies the same detective thriller as you solve murders by hacking the minds of victims.

FORTNITE

Still playing Epic Games’ world-dominating last-person-standingshooter? Then you’ll want to download your free PS5 edition with next-gen improvements on day one. Expect ray tracing, faster load times, and solid 60fps. Epic’s commitment to PS5 suggests Sony’s next-gen console will be the place to play Fortnite in the years to come.
