Science and fantasy collide in a galaxy just a little further away than the famous one we all love. Out in the newly discovered Neterun galaxy humankind has located a powerful energy source, Sonic Matter, and millions of people have raced to settle there and harvest the new resource. But they’re not alone.
The spirits of an ancient, lost alien civilisation haunt massive relics scattered throughout the galaxy. Like a story ripped from the pages of 2000AD or Heavy Metal, Haunted Space is a ship-based shooter where sharp horror and time-worn science fiction rub shoulders.
ALIEN MINED
As a Raider you explore Neterun from the comfort of your ship. You’re free to choose your next quest, fly to distant stars, or chase clues that could lead to something bigger and more horrific.
Combat is energetic, and you’ll rely on tried-and-tested dogfighting skills to outmanoeuvre rival factions and aliens. Between missions it’s possible to trade and craft equipment and even more advanced ships. Your success and survival depend on your building skills – you’ll have to make everything from weapons and shields to cargo containers and engines to give yourself the upper hand.
Italian Games Factory’s shooter doesn’t hold back on colour or grandeur despite being set in the outer reaches of space. This galaxy is littered with elegant alien structures to fly around, and a bright alien sun pierces the spokes of industrial space stations.
On PS5 ray tracing is used to create a sense of depth and realism. Your ship’s cockpit looks particularly shiny as light and shadows stream across the instruments, both hiding and illuminating its dials.
If space-based sims aren’t your thing but you love the sound of the universe on offer here, then you can flip on the co-op pilot and let the AI take care of the more complex aspects of life in the cold of space, leaving you to enjoy a more accessible arcade shooter.
