BATTLEFIELD CARTO

Revisiting the six classic maps joining 2042’s at Portal’s launch

-

01 BATTLE OF THE BULGE BATTLEFIELD 1942 (2002)

The famous historical battle has played host to many tense Conquest matches. There are plenty of places to dig in, leading to some excitingly up close-and-personal skirmishes.

03 ARICA HARBOR BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2 (2010)

Near the dry Atacama desert, and appropriately sandy. Vehicles can do well in this very long map, but the density of the buildings means infantry can get the upper hand if they manage to last long enough.

05 CASPIAN BORDER BATTLEFIELD 3 (2011)

For a while this was one of the largest maps in the whole Battlefield series, its width leading to plenty of spread-out conflict. A huge antenna is a good vantage point for snipers, but can be toppled.

02 EL ALAMEIN BATTLEFIELD 1942 (2002)

Part of the Western Desert Campaign in Egypt, this is a big desert map, neatly divided by Kidney Ridge, making for multiple angles of approach. A great map for tanks and planes.

04 VALPARAISO BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2 (2010)

This relatively tight map set in Chile’s major port city at the edge of the South Pacific features a low-tide variant in Portal, allowing larger skirmishes to take place on the seabed if you wish.

06 NOSHAHR CANALS BATTLEFIELD 3 (2011)

This industrial harbour in Iran is the perfect mixing ground for soldiers and vehicles. In the original game, one team could deploy from an aircraft character out at sea, which felt incredible.
