A CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE

-

Naturally, PS5’s power allows for more beautiful visuals than ever, providing ever more minute detail to Forbidden West’s rich and colourful pastures.

You’ll have heard about ray tracing, which can create much more realistic lighting than older methods, resulting in incredibly natural-looking shadows and reflections. Forbidden West is confirmed to support that technology. But have you heard about ‘cinematicgrade’ lighting? This lighting rig is specifically focussed on the characters, and requires a lot of processing power to achieve. It’s for that reason that it is only used in the PS4 version during cutscenes, when the hands-on side of the game is basically not running, and these sequences have predefined camera setups. On PS5, however, the console has sufficient processing power to enable this cinematic lighting to follow Aloy around in real time, no matter where you are and however you’re spinning the camera. With PS5, you can be assured our favourite machine hunter is always going to get the star treatment.
