BLINDED BY THE LIGHTS
Heavily inspired by the work of Oscar-winning filmmaker Saul Bass, Deathloop has a 1960s/’70s aesthetic characteristic of spy movies’ golden age, lending Colt’s actions an air of sophistication. Visual elements are enhanced further by ray tracing, in addition to ambient shadows and dynamic HDR support.
This added texture makes Blackreef look arguably more beautiful than Prey’s Talos I space station and Dishonored’s Dunwall. Whereas the devs needed to employ tricks to make light react and bounce around realistically in those games, with Blackreef they’re able to drop players into the most believable environment they’ve ever created. The shine from the chandeliers at Aleksis’ party, for example, is almost blinding.
