TO NVME OR NOT TO NVME?

Improve your internals with extra hardware

-

Since an NVMe SSD slot exists inside PS5, investing in internal storage seems the most obvious solution for anyone who wants more space while keeping all the benefits their console offers. New firmware updates make this possible, though each drive requires Sony validation to make sure it plays nice with the PS5. You’ll need to poke inside with a screwdriver, though the process is relatively simple. The Seagate FireCuda 530 was the first to be validated, starting at £120 for 500GB extra, through to £770 for 4TB. More options will become available, with PlayStation’s Mark Cerny recommending Western Digital’s competitive WD_Black SN850.
