STUNNING SPACE SCENERY

-

Yes, we know we keep saying it, but Rift Apart yet again raises the bar so much in terms of graphical fidelity, it really is sometimes hard to believe you’re not just playing an animated movie. It helps that all the worlds you visit are presented in such rich detail. Because while the stone architecture prominent on Savalis may look extremely distinct from the luminous nightclub atmosphere of Zurkie’s Gastropub and Battleplex, both are equally visually arresting thanks to extra visual flourishes like HDR and ray tracing. At times it can be hard to tell what’s cutscene and what’s action.

The ray tracing, in particular, enables light to shine and bounce around environments more realistically, enhancing the feeling of immersion on any planet you touch down on. Of course, if you prefer even smoother animations, you can always switch to Performance mode. Then you’ll be able to enjoy Ratchet’s movements and actions at a snappier-paced 60fps – double what Ratchet & Clank (2016) offered at launch.
