STILL PLAYING
Games that continue to hold our attention
Dying Light 2 Stay Human
Oscar Taylor-Kent takes up running (from zombies)
Any game with Jonah Scott as the lead voice actor could keep me hooked, but there’s even more to this zombierunning sequel that’s kept me coming back. Sure, it’s no Mirror’s Edge, but the comparatively floatier parkour here means your lines around the city always feel approachable (provided you have the stamina for it). Like a free-running flow state, there’s a lot about Dying Light 2 that makes it easy to keep pressing on. The only nasty bit? I wish I had some of the upgrades, like wall-running, from the start.
Return Of The Obra Dinn
Rachel Watts is all hands on deck
It’s been a couple of years since I played Lucas Pope’s swashbuckling mystery so I’ve decided to replay it. I’ve forgotten how each member of the Obra Dinn’s 60-person crew met their unfortunate ends, meaning I can play it again with (relatively) fresh eyes. I thought I would have an easier time solving the ship’s string of tragedies but my meticulous note-taking has turned into a chaotic mess of scribbled names, ship occupations, and event timelines. If you can help, send me a message in a bottle.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
Jess Kinghorn shouldn’t have clicked that file
Sometimes you just want to get back to basics – and in this JRPG that involves losing your physical form. It’s a one-two punch of classic turn-based fights and a hefty dose of nostalgia. Dungeons are so straightforward you don’t even need to swing the camera around, but with the adorable Terriermon trotting behind me, I don’t mind. You automatically scan enemies and, after collecting enough data, you can download them into your party. Once I find Angewoman and Deviwoman, we’ll be quite a squad.
