Low-price trading season
Games like this prove we should be wary about an all-digital future. It’s rare to see this latest FIFA reboot priced below £70 on digital storefronts, making the multi-store reduction to around £20 a mighty deal. Annual titles will always become less valuable as the year ticks on, meaning if you wait it out bricks-and-mortar stores are simply going to have to reduce the price to shift stock. Even so, this is a terrific game that’s not showing its age at all, and should tide you over for some time to come if you’re more interested in matches than the latest rosters.

Sales of a-low price
Like Final Fantasy, the long-running Tales RPGs are mostly disconnected adventures, so this latest one is a great place to start. This science-fantasy tale of interplanetary strife between the oppressed people of Dahna and their subjugators from Rena is one of the series’ best, filled with gorgeous visuals and action-packed real-time combat. With dual protagonists – one from each planet – there’s a whole party of compelling characters who each feel different to control in combat. Want more? There’s a hefty DLC expansion as well, though not included here.

A price that’s been tamed
This Monster Hunter competitor didn’t really take off. Published by EA Originals, it was developed by Omega Force, which also brought us the rather good Toukiden series last-gen. Support for updates has been dropped for months now, meaning the servers are only being maintained. And it’s a real shame, as there’s a lot to love here, in a game that feels like a genuinely different take on the giant beastie genre. Creatures inspired by Japanese mythology are gorgeous and fearsome in equal measure, and the woodwork gadgets are fun to use. Worth a look.
