The ultimate tournament starts now

SNK might also love adding DLC characters to its fighting games, but it’s generally wary of releasing additional versions of its titles without good reason. That’s why Ultimate Edition is worth paying attention to, as it’s sort of a last hurrah before KOF XV, currently scheduled for release this year.

Despite a shaky launch, KOF XIV has been updated over time to become a solid and enjoyable transition into the third dimension for SNK’s flagship fighting game. While its art style might not be quite as beautiful as the masterful pixel art of previous titles, it’s nonetheless a look KOF XIV can call its own, even if it took some tweaking to get here.

Alongside ten PS4 themes and ten DLC skins, Ultimate Edition includes the eight DLC fighters that were released during the game’s season one and season two. This complete version of the game comes with Garou: Mark Of The Wolves fan-favourite Rock Howard, Whip, Ryuji Yamazaki, Vanessa, Blue Mary, Oswald, Heidern, and Najd.

The Ultimate Edition is available to snap up right now, and it couldn’t be a better time to get into SNK fighting games as they’re undergoing a renaissance. The King Of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match, a tweaked version of the classic pixel art game, will also be coming to PS4; and Samurai Shodown has announced a third

Season Pass, featuring Cham Cham, Hibiki Takane, and two fighters yet to be revealed.
