Glass act

It’s ideal for cooking and storing food, and with Ô cuisine it’s now easier to take glass dishes from freezer to oven to table.

- BY SAMANTHA BRENNAN

Yes, glass has always been a favoured material in the kitchen, but perhaps never more so than it is today. We are becoming more aware of the health and efficiency implications of the materials we use to prepare, cook and store our food, and so choosing glass to bake, freeze and serve simply makes sense. The problem, however, has often been thermal shock: glass just can’t stand up to the temperature change of transferring it from the fridge or freezer to the oven or microwave, and it often shatters. Luckily, there is a solution: Ô cuisine Borosilicate glass, a high-grade, heatresistant glass made in France that can – quite literally – go from freezer to oven.
