ANIMALS IN NEED OF OUR HELP TOO

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

PLEASE be aware that it’s not just people that need to take care in keeping cool and maintaining fluids.

Our pets struggle severely in this heat as does the wildlife.

Please resist the urge to exercise them too much and if you do exercise them do it early or late in the day and not on concrete or bitumen surfaces that will burn their paws.

Make sure they have plenty of water and shade or somewhere cool to rest.

Spray them with water and keep an eye on them for signs of heat stroke.

Leave water out for the birds and animals in your area and if you see an animal in distress don’t ignore it,

it could be fatal for them. Remember our wildlife and our pets are as unused to this heat as we are.
