Moss­man woman charged over po­lice bite

A 31-YEAR-OLD Moss­man woman faced Cairns court yes­ter­day af­ter al­legedly bit­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer on Tues­day.

Of­fi­cers were called to an in­ci­dent at a Lund Street ad­dress at around 5.30pm and the woman ar­rested over a do­mes­tic dis­tur­bance.

Po­lice al­lege that as of­fi­cers tried to walk the woman to the po­lice ve­hi­cle, she phys­i­cally re­sisted then bit a 31-year-old male of­fi­cer on the wrist.

The woman was sub­se­quently placed in the rear of the ve­hi­cle and trans­ported to the Moss­man po­lice sta­tion.

The of­fi­cer at­tended the Moss­man Hos­pi­tal for med­i­cal treat­ment.

The woman was charged with one count each of se­ri­ous as­sault and ob­struct­ing po­lice and ap­peared in Cairns Mag­is­trates Court yes­ter­day.
