Third symphony solo for cellist (13)
Talented 13-year-old cellist Max Wung will be the soloist at next Sunday’s concert presented by the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (MetSO).
In his third solo appearance with the orchestra, Max will play Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme.
He has studied the cello with Rod McGrath and Xiaole Wu since 2010 and recently attained his associate in music diploma with distinction. He has also studied piano with Jana Kovar since the age of six.
The MetSO concert is at 3pm on Sunday, November 18, in the Newman College Auditorium, 216 Empire Avenue, Churchlands.
Orchestra members enjoy working with young performers and watching them develop over time.
The conductor, Burhan Güner, currently works in the opera department at the WA Academy of Performing Arts.
The orchestra will also perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 and Delibes’ Le Roi S’Amuse.
Bookings are available by phone on 0435 174 550 or online at www.metso.asn.au.
