Third sym­phony solo for cel­list (13)

Tal­ented 13-year-old cel­list Max Wung will be the soloist at next Sun­day’s con­cert pre­sented by the Metropoli­tan Sym­phony Or­ches­tra (MetSO).

In his third solo ap­pear­ance with the or­ches­tra, Max will play Tchaikovsky’s Vari­a­tions on a Ro­coco Theme.

He has stud­ied the cello with Rod McGrath and Xiaole Wu since 2010 and re­cently at­tained his as­so­ciate in mu­sic di­ploma with dis­tinc­tion. He has also stud­ied pi­ano with Jana Ko­var since the age of six.

The MetSO con­cert is at 3pm on Sun­day, No­vem­ber 18, in the New­man Col­lege Au­di­to­rium, 216 Em­pire Av­enue, Church­lands.

Or­ches­tra mem­bers en­joy work­ing with young per­form­ers and watch­ing them de­velop over time.

The con­duc­tor, Burhan Güner, cur­rently works in the opera depart­ment at the WA Academy of Per­form­ing Arts.

The or­ches­tra will also per­form Beethoven’s Sym­phony No. 1 and De­libes’ Le Roi S’Amuse.
