Fountains to finish

POST Newspapers - - Letters -

About $2.36million has gone into the Lake J ual b up r e d e v e l o p - ment.

Subiaco council spent $1.48million on new walls, embankment slopes and footpaths.

A further $880,000 went into improvements to the lake and surrounding parkland.

The recently installed fountains have a practical function as well as looking good.

“The city has installed new water jets to aerate the water,” a council spokeswoman said. “This is especially important in summer to reduce the risk of harmful algae.”

Scores of ducks and other birds died in the lake earlier this year as a result of an outbreak of botulism (Ducksswamp

vet, POST, March 3). Progress was delayed earlier this year when the project builders went bust and new contractors had to be appointed.
