Man charged over police assault
Tendons in a police officer’s finger were ripped while he was on duty in Mt Claremont on Monday morning.
Constable Joey Balczer was at a home helping deal with a domestic violence report when a man allegedly became aggressive.
A 63-year-old Mt Claremont man was bailed after being charged with aggravated common assault and assaulting a public officer.
He is to appear in Perth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Constable Balczer was expected to be off work for eight to 12 weeks.
