RUB AWAY ACHES
If you’re planning to walk a marathon or lug heavy boxes around while moving house, schedule a massage within a few hours afterwards. Studies show that a post-exercise massage decreases soreness and, in some cases, helps muscles regain full strength more quickly.
CONSUME COLOURFUL FOOD
To speed up healing, drink electrolytes (found in sports drinks) and eat berries and colourful vegetables, such as carrots, red capsicums and beetroot, says Dr Hilary Andrews, a naturopathic physician. Why? They’re high in flavonoids, which help strengthen strained tissues and ligaments.
