Although Northern Ireland has never produced a Giro starter, it’s had some cracking riders. Arguably the most pioneering was Belfast’s Ian Moore. Riding for French team Liberia, Ian was good enough to start the 1961 Tour de France. While he didn’t make it round the brutal course, neither did 59 others from that year’s 132 starters.
