SCINTO SAYS…
No time to stop and take in the scenery
The riders will have virtually no time to take in the romance of where we are, or the idea of being in Ireland. Their job is to eat, ride, massage and sleep. Mine is to take care of them psychologically and spiritually but at least the staff have some chance to appreciate the country. We’re working but even though we live the race 100 per cent, there are moments when we can relax just a little bit.
This will be extremely fast and nervous from the off. I think that of the three Irish stages it’s the one we can most easily call. Again there’s the wind and the coast to be mindful of but I think it will come together. For me, it’s a sprint finish.
>> Given the job he’ll be doing for his leader, it’s unlikely Irishman Philip Deignan will get the opportunity to show himself on home roads in a breakaway
