Démare romps to a famous French !ive

Just two days after being defeated in Germany, Arnaud Démare bounced back emphatically by winning all five stages and the overall of the Tour du Poitou Charentes in southwest France. Such a complete whitewash of stage wins is so rare, only two other riders have won five consecutive stages in this century - Alessandro Petacchi in the 2006 Oddset Rundfahrt and Jakob Mareczko at the 2017 Tour of Hainan. But the four largely flat stages suited Démare who faced modest sprint rivals, while he beat compatriot Sylvain Chavanel on the stage 4 time trial to ensure he won the overall.
