Antagonistic Moscon wins Agostoni

Procycling - - DEBRIEF -

On the eve of the Coppa Agostoni, before Sky’s Gianni Moscon’s five-week ban for lashing out at a rider ended, he told Gazzetta dello Sport he wanted to win to “shut everyone up”. The Tour incident was the latest entry on the Italian’s rap sheet, including racist behaviour. “They’ve kept throwing sh*t at me but in my head, I’ve gone back to how I was as an amateur. When there was a hill, I’d attack and go away alone.” Moscon did almost that at Agostoni. He attacked with 60km to go and beat Rein Taaramäe in a two-up sprint, but it’s unlikely such wins will deflect from his boorish behaviour.
