BINGEN FERNÁNDEZ DIRECTEUR SPORTIF, DIMENSION DATA

-

Sometimes you are in a bad bubble, a bad circle. You're good then something bad happens and then when you are recovering something bad happens and then, yes, you lose the progression. Steve was in that bad circle this year. Steve is so meticulous, he is one of those guys who has everything under control. He is orientated in numbers and results, so when he saw that those numbers didn't come and he couldn't get them, even in training... the numbers weren't there, the injuries were. Unfortunately if we could change the order of what was there it would be better. Then that a fects you mentally, especially people focussed on results and numbers. Steve is one of those riders, when everything matches, it goes well, but if it doesn't, everything goes in the other way. That's what happened this year.

On the positive side, Steve brings a relaxing atmosphere to the riders. The way he talks, you can see he's a big champion and a role model for the other riders. He's not nervous and it's calm when he is there and the other riders don't stress. He's a guy who wins but doesn't stress. We're looking at the 2019 season at the training camp in Cape Town, South Africa. We're going to have a chat about the last year and try to move forward to do the best for him, to try to get good results next year and have him back on track winning like he did in previous seasons.
