TERPSTRA’S CAREER MILESTONES SO FAR

2007

Turns pro with German team Milram. Races Paris-Roubaix for the irst time, after getting a late call-up when a number of his team-mates are injured in a crash at Gent-Wevelgem days before.

2008

Finishes 14th at the Tour of Flanders on his debut, in the bunch sprint behind Stijn Devolder, who takes a solo victory. In the group with him are future teammates Philippe Gilbert and Tom Boonen.

2009

A strong spring lands him a top 10 at Het Nieuwsblad and top 20 at Roubaix. Gets his just rewards for repeatedly going on the attack, when he wins a stage of the Dauphiné from a breakaway.

2010

Wins the Dutch national road title by outsmartin­g almost the entire Rabobank team. Follows it with a solo victory at Sparkassen Giro, attacking from a small front group to win.

2011

Joins spring heavyweigh­ts Quick-Step and their plethora of classics riders. However, it ends up being a year to forget for the Belgian squad, who win just eight races all year.

2012

Lands his irst big Classics victory at Dwars door Vlaanderen in a huge display of dominance, soloing to the win more than 20km from the line. Finishes sixth at Flanders and ifth at Roubaix.

2013

Edges closer to a monument victory, inishing third in Paris- Roubaix. Terpstra rounds o f his season with the irst of what eventually turns into four world titles in the TTT for Quick-Step.

2014

Wins his irst monument at Roubaix, attacking just after the inal sector of pavé. Also wins a second Dwars door Vlaanderen, inishes runner-up at E3 and is ifth at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

2015

Escapes in the winning move at Flanders, but is beaten into second by Alexander Kristo f. Wins the opening stage of the Tour de Wallonie and holds the lead to secure the overall victory.

2016

Wins Le Samyn but it’s again so near yet so far at Flanders, as he inishes 10th. Scores his biggest stage race GC victory at the Eneco Tour on the inal stage, thriving in the grim, rainy weather.

2017

Another year of consistenc­y during the Classics ultimately ends in near-misses with no victories. Terpstra’s best results include fourth at Gent-Wevelgem, third at Flanders and third at Paris-Tours.

2018

Finally wins a debut Flanders after attacking with 26km to go, before winning solo. Showed his form in the weeks before, winning a second Le Samyn and soloing to victory in E3.
