Viviani takes wins one day at a time
Elia Viviani is gradually ticking off the WorldTour one-day races that fall within his remit as a sprinter. His victory at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race may not be huge, but it’s a decent addition to his palmarès. Viviani has already won the Euroeyes Cyclassics twice and the Bretagne Classic, meaning he’s won more top level one-day races than any other current sprinter. Arguably, the key races remaining that he’s capable of winning are GentWevelgem (he was agonisingly close last year), RideLondon (second in 2018), and San Remo, where he was top 10 in 2017.
