JÉRÔME PINEAU

MANAGER, B& B HOTELS

-

Kévin is an important rider for us. He’s more than a road captain; he’s somebody who is a leader of the group, especially off the bike, where he can teach the younger riders about the code of cycling and our values. I brought him in because I knew he could help the team grow - he has good human values. On a sporting level, Kévin is a Champions League player. The bigger the race, the more motivated he is. It’s true that he hasn’t won a race, but I get the feeling that’s more of an issue for him than it is for us. A win would be a great reward for a career spent in the service of others. If he was more of an egotist, he would have won more races, but if he was more of an egotist, he wouldn’t be Kévin. In recent years, Kévin has become an emblem of anti-racism in cycling, almost in spite of himself. It’s not a role he actively searched for, but it’s a role which he is great at. I’m with him every step of the way - tolerance is an essential part of life and it represents the ethos and values of our team.
