2020’S WINNER ON…

- Lauren Stephens

TOUR FÉMININ INTERNATIONAL DE L’ARDÈCHE 8-14 Sep | France | 2.1

The Tour de l’Ardèche is actually one of the hardest parcours that we do all year. The amount of climbing it has over seven days is ridiculous, to say the least. When it comes to the level of the race, it’s not the highest, so it leaves room for a bit more opportunity, but I would say the course is one of the hardest we do. It’s the heat there too, and there are long transfers. It’s really difficult at this race, you stay in one location the entire time but the transfers are any time from an hour to three hours, and some days you have three hours at both ends of the day, so there are more factors than just the course and the heat. I’ve done the race, like, four times, so I know how to manage the schedule and I understand it, but you always see it when new riders come to the race: telling them about leaving at 8am and returning at 8pm. It is definitely one of those races that reminds you that you are still in women’s cycling.
