Mystery flight

Soaring mountains, untamed forests and rocky outcrops... it’s a scene straight out of Jurassic Park. This island isn’t in Hawaii but wildlife abounds – expect to encounter seals, bears and birdlife. It’s not in Japan but in winter it’s a good spot to ski. It’s not in Australia but it’s been a penal colony. It’s a big island at almost 1000 kilometres long but it’s quite narrow, which means you’re never far from the sea... or seafood. Scallops, prawns and salmon are found here in abundance but it’s the giant red king crabs that really draw the gourmands. There’s a city on this island, too, complete with a cathedral with onion domes. Can you guess where this is?
