The Courier

Based on true events, this 1960s Cold War thriller follows British businessman Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he’s recruited by MI6 and the CIA to carry secrets from a top-level Soviet informant, Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze), to the West. Reluctant at first, Wynne soon proves himself adept at the spying game, using all his salesmanship (and drinking) skills to divert suspicion. When the ruse suddenly unravels, the suspense is drawn taut and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Rated M
