10 CHASE THE WATERFALLS

Aucklanders love a good bushwalk – particularly when there’s a roaring waterfall at the end. From Oakley Creek Falls in Auckland Central to Lucas Creek Waterfall, just 25 minutes north, there’s no shortage of options. But for the ultimate spectacle, drive about 50 minutes south-west to Kitekite Falls, where you can follow the boardwalk (about an hour return) through a dense forest of ancient kauris to the 40-metre-high cascade and emerald pool.
